Product

What is V-Stretch?

V-Stretch is a Novel Tourniquet Optimised for maximal comfort, functionality, and ease of use during blood sampling (also called Phlebotomy or Venipuncture) and placement of a cannula or catheter into the vein (also called peripheral intravenous cannulations) for the administration of drugs, fluids, and blood to a patient.

This product, as a quick-release, easy-to-use device, and disposable tourniquet, is designed to assists practitioners to improve their success rate in first attempt venous access as well as helping combat the spread of infection by avoiding patient-to-patient transfer of microbes from repeated uses.

Competitor tourniquets often are uncomfortable and may break, made from plastic, fabric, or strong paper, and some with button clips or buckles. V-Stretch is made from soft strong material and designed for maximal effectiveness, ease of use, and comfort.

Why V-Stretch?

Vascular access for venepuncture and peripheral intravenous cannulation is a common procedure within health care where a needle or sheath is inserted into the vein to either obtain a blood sample or the patient to be given medication, fluids, or blood.

First-attempt cannula insertion success rate is lower in some patient groups such as the elderly, children, obese, and darker-skinned patients. Every attempt at cannulation (needle stick) increases the risk of infection to the patient, resulting in increased stress and a traumatic experience for both patient and practitioner.

Multiple unsuccessful cannulation attempts have negative impacts for both patients and practitioners. One cannulation-attempt costs about 40-50 CAD per patient, so it leads to wasting patient and practitioner time and high wastage cost to Healthcare providers. When it comes to children, up to 50% of cannulation performed fail.
